NFC cards or QR codes: which should you use at your counter?
How each one works, where each works best, and why most businesses use both.
3 minute read
Both do the same job: open your feedback page on the customer's phone without typing anything. The difference is how the customer gets there.
NFC: tap and go
NFC is the same technology as contactless payments. The customer holds their phone near the card and the page opens. There's no camera to open and nothing to line up, which makes it the quickest option on most recent phones.
QR codes: works almost everywhere
Nearly every phone camera can read a QR code. It's the safest fallback, and it works from a little further away, which helps on walls, menus and table tents.
Where each works best
- Bill folders and counters: an NFC card, since the customer is right there.
- Tables, menus and walls: a QR code people can scan from their seat.
- Busy billing counters: a standee with both, so nobody has to ask how it works.
Track each one separately
With Praisio, each card or code can be its own review code, so you can see which spot gets the most scans and feedback, and move your cards to where they work.
